It’s a Wildlife all right

I played a couple of shows at Greg Parker’s Ballarat Wildlife and Reptile Park during the last lot of holidays, singing animal songs like those about this friendly little fella…

We’re trying to see if we can come to a fair arrangement for me to play at the park regularly during holiday periods. The changes at the government based Zoo’s – Melbourne, Werribee & the Aquarium – making them free during holiday times for people under 16 – is going to hurt private operators though. Something I think governments should almost always try to avoid. So it mightn’t be viable for him.

It seems ironic because these big zoos have less of a local conservation focus than many of the so called “commercial” operators.

I do like the way the park allows people to interact with some of the animals, in a very fair, non invasive or exploitative way. And I do enjoy any excuse for a good hop ( and know the kids do too!)
