Pictures Eat People

I’ve mentioned my wife Rachel in a couple of posts now and haven’t told you about what she does! (On top of making awesome suggestions and looking after our wonderful kids and home I mean)

She writes and illustrates and draws and makes picture-books and fine art and poetic magazine articles and lovely cards and all sorts of other things!

She made her first book for our son, Jasper, and then decided to print copies for other folks to hold on to. It’s called “When I Close My Eyes” and it’s lovely. You can check it out at her easy shop or at a bunch of shops around the nation.

She’s been working on another story recently (stay tuned!) as well as some sweet pencil drawings on panel pops, one of which got 2nd runner up in the recent Ballarat Small Works Prize at Red Brick Gallery. They’re not all finished but I really dig them, they speak of adventure and thinking and other things we both like. They’re at her studio at the moment, so I can’t take a photo to show you! But I’ll let you know if she hangs them somewhere.

I can not say enough how lucky I feel to be married to someone so inspiring and wonderful. And pictures do really eat people!
