APRA-AMCOS Returns – the Reckoning

Annual performance returns are due tomorrow. These are the forms one has to fill out to get your share of copyright revenue as a songwriter/performer. I haven’t finished mine yet, about to get back to it.

I played 95 original gigs, with several of those being multi-set shows, in the financial year just gone, plus about 30 shows for Hey Dee Ho and a handful of covers/function gigs and private parties. This is more than I’ve ever done, but not as many as I need to do! (The arrival of my Rosie girl slowed down the gigging for part of the year).

There’s a bit of confusion though as to whether my shows at childcare centre and kinders or shows during school holiday programs count as “school shows” (which have slightly different rules). Plus I forgot to keep track of which places were community or government ran (and are therefor exempt from copyright fees) and which places are private.

Oh well room for improvement for next year, when APRA-AMCOS Rises!
