RIP Jerry Nelson

I had not heard the news until stumbling on this blog. Thank you. Great puppeteer and voice performer (as all the Henson crew were and are). I have listed Count von Count as my favourite vampire on several internet polls… Sherlock Hemlock and the Amazing Mumford were two other great early Sesame St characters I adored, and Fraggle Rock remains one of my favourite ever shows. RIP indeed Mr. Nelson.

It gives me no pleasure to post two RIP articles in a row. Life is too short, so make the most of every minute.

Jerry Nelson was the voice of Count Von Count. Whenever I try to remember the character, all that comes to mind is my classmates in kindergarten imitating the Count.

One, ah ah ah, two, ah ah ah.

His voice captured the imagination of the young. It became contagious. As soon as one child would begin, the muppets would manifest in the entire classroom. If Jerry’s goal was to bring that type of joy to a child, then he certainly succeeded.

RIP Jerry Nelson.
